How to Make Your Legs Look Longer

07 Thursday Jul 2016

fashion, fashion blog, fashion blogger, how to, inspire, legs, longer legs, make legs look longer, what to wear

Okay, who doesn’t want that legs-for-miles, look?  Especially when summer comes around, and we care less about keeping ourselves covered and warm!  Here are some fashion tips to help give the illusion of legs that just wont quit!

  • Nude pumps – Choose a pump that is close to your skin tone, and it will just become an extension of your leg.
  • Something High Waisted – Those low riders can easily make it look like your waist starts inches lower than it actually does!  Choose something high waisted and pair it with a crop top or a tucked in shirt to gain you the illusion of some added inches.
  • A Pointed Tow – Flats or Heels, a pointed toe makes your legs appear longer any day.
  • Shorts and Mini Skirts – Especially in a darker color, and especially with a heel, can make you look like you have legs that could conquer the world.  BUT….have the confidence to carry them off.  If a short hemline isn’t your thing, the fact you are uncomfortable in it will hide the fact your legs look epic.
  • Avoid too many straps or ties on your shoes – Yep, its trendy to have straps and ties that go up your leg.  By all means, wear to your hearts content! On the days you want your legs to look longer, opt for a more simple shoe that will let the line of your leg continue down.
  • Try a Wide Leg and Heels — The lack of structure around your legs, paired with a leg that also flows over the top of your shoes makes it anyone’s guess where your foot stops and your show starts.

OOTD: The Jet Setting Maxi Dress

26 Tuesday Apr 2016

airport, fashion, fashion trends, style, teavel, what to wear

Normally, there is for though to these posts. Some outfit S wears and want to share with world. Today, I had that outfit ready, and then decided to be more spontaneous with that post. After all, the clothes in my closet will still be there next week. Today, I’m writing this post while on a plane, flying across the country to San Fransisco for a work conference. While traveling in general alludes to luxury and style, sitting cramped in an airplane seat does not. So exactly how can you dress to make the journey manageable, while still feeling like you could be featured on one of those airport style blog post that crop up everywhere. DSC_0007_Fotor

If you have ever read a travel post on StylishTwo before, you know that we do not think that travel is any reason to leave the house disheveled, and till in last nights legging or yoga pants. Yes, they are comfortable. Yes, they are easy. Yes, I wear them often. They are not stylish though. They are made for exercise, a night in on the couch with a glass of wine and your favorite movie, or a lazy morning with a lingering cup of coffee. If you aren’t on the way to yoga class though, leave the yoga pants at home.

So what my answer after banishing what is considered the go to comfort clothing by many women? A jersey maxi dress.

This stretchy comfortable fabric will mold to your body, making you look (and feel) anything but frumpy without having to sacrifice your comfort. After all, you even get to forgo the waistband. It long length keeps your leg covered, and give you somewhere to tuck your leg up into if you manage a little space for a mid flight nap.

This grey maxi has been a long favorite of mine. I like it ankle length cut, and it minimal fabric, so I don’t feel like I have to control it while I am running across the airport to make a connecting flight. It’s short sleeves make it more appropriate for flying, where it normally chilly, and the neutral color make it easy to wear.

Throw a cardigan over it to give you a an extra layer, and opt for flat to make airport navigation easier. Ruffle are big this spring , so I chose this ruffled cardigan, and paired it with a pair of pointed toe lace up flats, another big trend!

Easy, comfortable, and you still look good!

Hopefully last week gave you a little inspiration for what to wear to any upcoming wedding that you have.  This week, I am going to take it it one step further, by giving you a few ideas for how to accessorize in a way that will keep fashionable, and functional for what is bound to be a fun occasion!

The Shoes

How to Accessorise for a summer wedding

I know some say to save the best for last, but I always was a little bit of a rule breaker, at least when it comes to fashion!  Shoes are my lovers, so for me they are first!  For a wedding, neutral colors are always the perfect option because they are versatile and can do with anything.  Metallic shoes are a great option if you like to make more of a statement! Also, warm, romantic colors, like soft pinks and purples are fitting.  Try to stay away from anything too bold–such as reds, which can appear harsh.   Also remember when picking out your shoes that the wedding maybe outside, and there is a high likelihood of spending a large portion of your day or evening getting your groove on out on the dance floor.  Never wear shoes you have not tested out before, and opt for a shorter heel and/or wider heel for more support.  Wedges are also a great option, especially for an outdoor wedding!

The Bag

Choose a clutch or wristlet.  Anything bigger than that looks bulky, and takes away from the rest of your outfit.  After all, it will either be sitting in your lap or holding your chair for you for the duration of the wedding, so why not minimize?  Limit what you bring to your phone, keys, lipstick, money/credit card and ID.  You really don’t need more than that!  My favorite is this nude patten leather wristlet, which is perfect for any outfit.

Jewelry

When in doubt on your jewelry to wear to a wedding is to keep it classic. Trust me, that is a lot for a girl who likes her statement pieces! Pearls are always the go to option because you can dress them up or down.  Only wear statement pieces if you have a simple solid colored dress.  Wearing black dress to a wedding is a perfect time to add a happy statement necklace so you look like you are ready to celebrate the occasion, if your dress has any pattern on it, stick to the basics.

To warm up

Thankfully in the summer, this is less of a concern! Evening weddings though sometimes leave us reaching for something to warm up with. Skip the jacket if possible.  Go for a blazer or cardigan.  Dressier wedding, or just want to elevate your look?  Invest in a pashmina wrap, which adds warmth while still looking incredibly classy.

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding

After a long cold winter, little is better than summer days and warm sunshine.  One thing that always seems to crop up in the summer, is the summer wedding.  So why not have a little inspiration for what to wear to that stake of weddings you have invites to pinned to your fridge.

Some basic tips

  •  Know your bride and groom.  Everyone has different styles and tastes.  Dress in something you know they would love, and fits the theme of their wedding.
  •  If the bride is wearing white, don’t wear white.  I know, but I had to say it. The day is about the bride
  • Watch your skirt length.  Knee length is idea, or longer if that is your preference.

For the Casual Wedding

We all have that friend who wants to get married outside in cowboy boots.  They fun and easy going, and their wedding is bout to be a blast.  Wear a cotton floral dress.  Its comfortable and will let you move on the dance floor and have a great time.  Yellow is a huge color this summer, and perfect for a wedding like this.

Step it up a Notch…

For a slightly dressier outdoor wedding, floral is still a great option.  Go for a bold print in a more structured cut to step things up a notch.  This dress is my personal favorite, because it works for almost any wedding occasion!

The Formal Wedding

Go for a cocktail dress in a summer color like this great shade of green, especially if the wedding is in the daytime.

The Maxi DressWhat to wear to a summer wedding

We all love maxi dresses.  They are the ideal summer go to look.  Who wouldn’t to carry that over to a wedding! The way to make a maxi dress work is to wear one with a little more formal look, like this shirt dress style in an electric color.

Wearing Black

The little black dress is the perfect chic stylish look for a cocktail wedding. Wearing black to a wedding can be tricky, after all you want to look happy for the occasion, not like you are going to a funeral. The trick is to be a little more fun with you attire.  Don’t skimp on the dress.  Go for lace or satin, or an equally appealing fabric, and wear with fun accessories.

Go Bold

Feel like pushing the fashion limits, and turning a few heads?  Try a jumpsuit!  They are easily dressed up, but super comfortable if dresses aren’t your thing.

Hopefully this makes choosing your outfit when you are a wedding guest this summer a little easier.  Check back next week for a post on how to accessorize these looks!
