Summer is my favorite season.  The long days, the warm sunshine, beach days, BBQ’s, strappy sandals, and summer dresses.  I love my summer dresses.  As anyone who regularly reads this blog can tell, I actually don’t wear pants often. Anytime I can wear a skirt or a dress, I probably will.  That doesn’t mean that I don’t occasionally like to have my legs covered.  In the hot summer days, the usual casual style of jeans can feel just a bit to restricting, so why not try out palazzo pants, which are a fun trend of the moment!

These loose, wide leg pants let your legs still get a breeze, and come in great colors and styles!palazzo2

Often times you can find them in a high waist version, which pairs great with a crop top, and makes your legs look like they go on forever!palazzo3

Pair with a comfortable block heel, so the pants almost touch the ground for the illusion of maximum leg length, while still giving you comfort and freedom to do whatever activity you can think of!

4th of july, America, holiday, how to dress for work in the summer, idea, independance day, inspiration, July, outfit, usa

If you are like me, life gets away from you. There is just so much to do, and accomplish, and so many shoes to buy that suddenly you turn around and realize a holiday is just around the corner, and you have not had enough time to pick out the perfect outfit for your day’s.  So here is some advice and a few outfit ideas to help you enjoy the celebrations this weekend!

White Jeans and a Button Down4th of July Outift
White skinny jeans are a summer staple.  They are light, flirty and go with anything!  Pair them with a blue striped button down–mine actually has stars and stripes!  Pair it with red accessories.

Cut off Shorts
4th of July Outift
Cut offs are the perfect casual summer outfit, and they are blue!  Pair them with white sneakers, a summer trend, and layer red and white tops!

The Jumpsuit
4th of July Outift
Yep. I love a jumpsuit.  Pair any jumpsuit with red white and blue accessories for an evening event!  Being non-traditional, I have two jumpsuites, both in bright colors!  This bright blue vintage jumpsuit is perfect for the holiday.  Paired with chunky white sandals and a red belt, its a perfect fun holiday outfit!

Dress it Up
How to wear a red statement blazer
Not all holiday events events this weekend are going to be causal!  Consider pairing a red, white or blue blazer over a patterned tank and a bright pair of skinny jeans for a dressier event!

The Denim Dress
How to Wear a denim dress - Summer Trend
This patriotic dress was my outfit for Memorial Day, but the same thing that made it patriotic then, make it patriotic now.  This summer trend absolutely warrents being worn again!

Accessories
The right accessories.  The trick to making any holiday outfit work is with the accessories.  You can make any outfit look patriotic by adding some red, white, and blue accessories to it.  So look threw your closet and find things that work!

And of course…paint your nails!

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding

04 Thursday Jun 2015

205, casual, cocktail, fashion, fashion blog, floral, formal, idea, inspiration, lbd, lookbook, outfit, party, shirt dress, summer, trends, wedding, wedding guest, what to wear

After a long cold winter, little is better than summer days and warm sunshine.  One thing that always seems to crop up in the summer, is the summer wedding.  So why not have a little inspiration for what to wear to that stake of weddings you have invites to pinned to your fridge.

Some basic tips

  •  Know your bride and groom.  Everyone has different styles and tastes.  Dress in something you know they would love, and fits the theme of their wedding.
  •  If the bride is wearing white, don’t wear white.  I know, but I had to say it. The day is about the bride
  • Watch your skirt length.  Knee length is idea, or longer if that is your preference.

For the Casual Wedding

We all have that friend who wants to get married outside in cowboy boots.  They fun and easy going, and their wedding is bout to be a blast.  Wear a cotton floral dress.  Its comfortable and will let you move on the dance floor and have a great time.  Yellow is a huge color this summer, and perfect for a wedding like this.

Step it up a Notch…

For a slightly dressier outdoor wedding, floral is still a great option.  Go for a bold print in a more structured cut to step things up a notch.  This dress is my personal favorite, because it works for almost any wedding occasion!

The Formal Wedding

Go for a cocktail dress in a summer color like this great shade of green, especially if the wedding is in the daytime.

The Maxi DressWhat to wear to a summer wedding

We all love maxi dresses.  They are the ideal summer go to look.  Who wouldn’t to carry that over to a wedding! The way to make a maxi dress work is to wear one with a little more formal look, like this shirt dress style in an electric color.

Wearing Black

The little black dress is the perfect chic stylish look for a cocktail wedding. Wearing black to a wedding can be tricky, after all you want to look happy for the occasion, not like you are going to a funeral. The trick is to be a little more fun with you attire.  Don’t skimp on the dress.  Go for lace or satin, or an equally appealing fabric, and wear with fun accessories.

Go Bold

Feel like pushing the fashion limits, and turning a few heads?  Try a jumpsuit!  They are easily dressed up, but super comfortable if dresses aren’t your thing.

Hopefully this makes choosing your outfit when you are a wedding guest this summer a little easier.  Check back next week for a post on how to accessorize these looks!
