Seen on the runway for Derek Lam, Proenza Schouler, and Christian Dior, you can now see it here on our very own S!
Hot! Paired with booties – yes fall fashion must always include a great pair of booties!
So go grab that fun window pane print, and fall back into fall fashion!

Happy Monday! So you’ve probably noticed that denim on denim is popular this season. With temperatures dropping to the 30’s at night and the high only getting into the 50’s this week, we have officially welcomed fall. The leaves are changing, the sweaters are coming out, and fair season has begun. So here’s an idea of how to wear jean on jean, especially if you need an outfit idea to wear to the fair!
First, grab a button down jean shirt. Wear it tucked in, or loose!
Pair it with a slightly darker wash denim jean. Popular right now are the boyfriend jeans, and the high waisted flair 1970’s jeans.
And we always love a great shoe, preferably with a heel. So we added a pair of sling back mules to this outfit to give a little height and comfort while out and about. Chunky shoes and mules are in, so pull out those closed toe shoes, fall is upon us!
And, you’ll notice, the ever present bandana is back in this post as well. It’s something to add a little color, its a popular trend that absolutely everyone can wear. So get a little crazy, find a bandana in a color you love, and jazz up your outfit with a little pop of color!
Until next week, xoxo Em & S

Who doesn’t love the look of a jumpsuit of romper! Let’s take it into fall fashion with a stylish bandana and a great pair of heels.
You can dress the jumpsuit up or down. For this style we took a casual jumpsuit and paired it with a wester belt which was popular on the runway in New York.
Adding a pair of sky high gladiator heels makes any woman feel great!
Style your jumpsuit with a soft messy pony and pink lip.
And lets not forget the bandana. Just a little something to give this outfit a color kick. You can throw it in your pocket, tie it around your arm or waist, or wear it around your neck like a statement necklace. Just a little something to give your wardrobe a kick.
Until next week… xoxo ~Em & S

Let’s face it. Everyone is a little conscious of how their body looks. So for those of you who are worried about that extra 10lbs you feel you put on this summer while indulging in sweet treats and ice cream, here are a few tips to transition into fall and help you feel better in your wardrobe!
Avoid the chunky shoe:
I’m sorry to say it ladies, the chunky shoe might be popular right now, but if you are at all worried about feeling chunky – avoid the chunky shoe. Making your ankles and feet appear bigger then they are, does nothing for slimming your legs and giving you an air of elegance. Chunky shoes make you look heavier, they make you walk heavier, and they don’t make you feel sexy. So even though it’s trendy, skip them this season.
Stay away from shapeless dresses
So the trends this year are a little “sloppy”. The shirt dress, and shapeless shift dress are popular, but if you’re conscious of those extra pounds, then wearing a shapeless shirt or dress just adds weight to your frame. If you’re really into the style, grab a belt and cinch it under your bust, or at the waist to draw the eyes to the narrowest part of your body and give you that great hourglass shape. As we move into fall and the weather starts to get cooler, a great button down sweater with a belt at the waist will add style and not add pounds.
Hold off on purchasing or wearing clothing that is too tight
I know it’s exciting to tell yourself you’re down a size. It makes all of us think twice about buying a piece of clothing that’s just a little too tight. Unfortunately, the “feel good” part of getting into a smaller size doesn’t translate to how it looks on you. Clothing that is too tight hangs funny and attracts the eyes to the areas where it squeezes your flesh. Don’t get trapped in the “size matters” mindset. It really doesn’t! A great piece that fits right and looks fantastic on you goes so much farther then the size label. The only one who can see the size label is you. With the wide swing in sizing of women’s clothing, just forget about the number altogether and get something that fits. Our bodies are so different, don’t be afraid to go up a size in something great, and have it tailored to fit! You’re tailor is a great investment in you feeling great about yourself! When you go out smiling, and you know you look good, everyone else will think you look great too!
Buy your boyfriend jeans in a darker wash
So boyfriend jeans are in this year, and in their nature, they are a little baggier. To avoid feeling heavy in your jeans, go with a darker wash. Darker washes are slimming. So there’s no need to throw this trend aside, just make sure when you’re out shopping, that you remember color makes a world of difference.
Go for the oversized bag
As an Architect, I fully understand this concept. We use the idea of scale to trick our minds into thinking and feeling a certain way. People love to walk down city streets with overhangs and large shop windows. Why? Because it’s related to our “human” scale – as opposed to those streets with the towering high-rises that make you feel like an ant. The same thing applies to your accessories, and most importantly, your bags! If you’re feeling a little overweight, carry a large bag. Large bags will make you look smaller. Small bags make you look heavy. Or if you’re a tiny slip of a girl, consider a medium to small bag so you don’t get lost in your oversized bag and oversized sunglasses – looking like you went to play dress up in you’re mom’s closet. Scale matters! So go big and go bold if you’re feeling a little self conscious!
Wear diagonal stripes
So I think we have all heard the fashion advice – not to wear horizontal stripes. But if you want to look thinner – wear diagonal stripes. We love this dress from Ann Taylor that directs the eye to the thinest part of your body and makes you look like you have the craziest skinny hourglass. It’s classy, its vibrant, and it makes you look so much thinner! So go for the diagonal stripes this year!
I hope these tips were just a little bit helpful!

Em is an Architect, which means that professional footwear is a must. When going to meet a client, it’s critical to dress the part. However, there is no reason to be boring and straight laced. Here are a few favorite choices to throw into your wardrobe to jazz up that power suit or just look professional.
Although, on occasion, I will throw in a peep toe shoe – the rule of thumb is closed toe in the business world.
The rounded front chunky heel! Chunky heels are back ladies! Although a great stiletto will never go out of style, we can plan to be more stable on those sky high heels this fall!
Sparkly flats! Sometimes you have to visit a client and your concerned about your heel. Throw on a great pair of sparkly, pointed toe flats. Honestly, flat doesn’t have to be boring!
Multi tones! We’ve been seeing a lot of multi-tone shoes. Something with a neutral and a pop of color! I just had to stop myself from buying an incredible pair of white pumps with red trim details! They even matched the red pants I was wearing. Alas, I was good – holding out for the next fabulous pair of shoes I can’t resist!
Navy! If you’ve been following our blog you have heard me harp about Navy. Navy is the new power color. People are more likely to buy from you wearing navy over black or brown! So go out and get a pair of navy shoes already!
Nude, Chunky, And Fabulous! Like I mentioned above, chunky is in this year. But let’s talk about another trend – nude! All over neutral is in and having a great pair of nude heels will never steer you wrong.
The Staple! Every woman simply must own a great pair of patent leather black pumps! End. Of. Story.
Whimsey! As seen in our previous blog post (a must read!) “how to make your high heels more comfortable” This pair of whimsical floral heels adds a touch of feminine to the powerful world of business women. Let’s not just march on in our heels, let’s remind them we are women!
And Bold Patterns! Find a bold pattern you love and go for it. Wear it with a neutral and let the shoes bet the statement. Animal prints, done in this way, make a classy outfit just a little bit fun! Everything has it’s place, and zebra print shoes should always be in the mix!
Thanks for checking in again this week! As you can see, S & Em are shoe obsessed!
And so we leave you with this quote below! xoxo ~ Em

The thing about summer, is that sometimes mother nature decides to give you a cool cloudy day–especially when you live in the north east. So what is a well dressed professional woman suppose to do to give her outfit the edgier vibe of summer, while still keeping comfortable when the weather throws you a curve ball?
Add a leather jacket over your normal work attire
instead of a more formal looking jacket!

As many of you know, I’m an Architect. So I love a great power suit! I’m kicking it back casual here, but you get the idea!
I read an article once that said people were more likely to buy from you if you were wearing navy blue over black or brown. So my power suit is naturally – Navy Blue
Go long on your pants and wear heels! Always wear closed toe shoes for business. And dress up your power suit with a funky blouse. I love orange, so I wear this top with the grommets quite frequently! I love the light weight shirt under the suit, because it can get hot. Thank goodness we aren’t men that need to button up their shirts and wear ties.
But even if you aren’t a professional woman, mens wear is hot right now! So go out and grab that power suit or two piece funky mens wear fashion! You’ll look stunning and put together! People will want to know you! It’s all about confidence, so wear it with swagger!
Cheers! xoxo Em
