It’s the first week of February and it’s staggering what percentage of people give up on their goals within the first 6 weeks of the year!  Clearly I should have made a goal to be more prompt as I’m sitting blogging on Friday morning instead of having this done and completed by Thursday as our usual blog post day.  I’ll ask for forgiveness and tell you that one of my 2016 goals was to get more organized.

As many of you know, I am self employed, which means I have a milling balls in the air all at one time. I’ve read a number of business books, and honestly they all say the same thing. You can’t get anything done without a plan.  So one of my goals this year was to be more intentional. To make a plan, because all work and no play makes Emily a “stressed out, cranky, overwhelmed individual who never does anything fun with her friends to recharge” you know…Dull!

So I wanted to check in and see, what were your resolutions for this year? And are you sticking with them. Today is a great day to go over and read them again. Post them somewhere you can see them at the beginning of the day and the end of the day as a reminder of what you’re working for.  I had a interesting conversation with one of my clients last night where we talked about instant gratification.  He said “Instant gratification is for kids, as adults we have to look for the big gratification at the end of long journey” And it’s true.  There is nothing more exciting then working hard towards a goal, the anticipation, the drive, and then getting there at the end.

So take some time today and review your goals. Set up some new practices if the old ones aren’t working to get you to your goal. Get re-inspired by your life. What are you working so hard for? Don’t get bogged down by the everyday details of your life and stop focusing on your goals.  If you didn’t make any goals for New Years, it’s never too late to start. Start small, something that only takes you a couple days or weeks to accomplish. It doesn’t have to be big. Little goals towards a bigger goal go a long way.

We’d love to hear your goals! Share with us, let us help you keep on track! If you’re goal is to be a little more fashionable this year. Or to donate those clothes that you’ve been hanging on to since high school but you need to clean out your closet and that’s an undertaking.  Or, I swear S’s goal is to buy a pair of shoes for every day of the year! One of my major goals is to get strong this year. Lifting weights is so critical to keeping yourself fit as you get older. Honestly so many things “hurt” in my 30’s that I never thought about in my 20’s. I want to maintain a strong and healthy body this year. That’s one of my goals, among many!

Cheers and happy friday! Share with us what you’re goals are and if you’re staying on track!
