It’s finally summer here in Maine! So let’s talk a little bit about the Dos and Don’ts of summer dresses! Because, let’s be frank, there is nothing sexier then a great summer dress, and it’s finally time to wear them!
DO: Look for bold prints and patterns! Floral is in this year, but summer time is a great time of year to add a pop of color, a touch of whimsey, or a bold floral. There is something about summer that makes our inner child come out! So go for it
DO: Recycle your dress! As you see below, there can be many ways to wear a dress! So get creative with your shoe, jacket, and accessory collection and make that dress look hot several different ways! (For more ways to wear the little white dress check out our blog post HERE
DONT: Forget to select the right dress length for your body type! Sarah has long legs, so midi skirts look great on her! Em has a longer torso and shorter legs, so just above the knee dresses or long floor length empire waist dresses add length to her shorter legs.
DO: Add a structured blazer or sweater over your summer dress to wear to work! The professional world calls for a little class and keeping your arms covered. So make that little summer dress professional with a sweater or blazer, and then ditch it when the work day is out!
DONT: Forget to add bold accessories! Make that simple summer dress pop with a statement necklace, a silk scarf with a bold print, or a pair of fantastic heels!
DO: Go for a structured style dress like the shirt dress! Summer is a time to show off our bodies a little and a structured dress gives us a little extra nip/tuck after one too many ice cream cones!
DO: Look for dresses that can go from day to night! A simple change in sweater and shoes takes that dress from daytime festival to night time cocktail hour or date night with your special someone!
