Memorial Day. The unofficial start to summer, and of course an amazing long weekend. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that on Friday, I sat in the anesthesia office happy I had Monday off, and thinking about my weekend plans. I did have to take a moment this weekend though to recognize what this day was really about–recognizing people who lost their lives in an effort to serve others. It is an American holiday, and I will be the first to admit that politics are messy, and I do not agree with everything my homeland does. At the end of the day though, there are still people who have made it possible for me to have the life I have today, and I respect that. No matter where you are from, or what you believe, someone fought a battle for you. So today for me is about that.
E and I explored ventured down to Veteran’s Memorial Park, which isn’t too far from us, on a gloriously beautiful Maine weekend, which is a beautiful small park on a river.
Nothing to me is more patriotic than denim, and denim dresses are an absolute trend this year. I love this dress, which I picked up at a consignment shop over the winter, and it even has the USA flag on it!
Red wedges are patriotic and functional for a walk in the park!
