drinking, sangria, summer, summer drinks, summer parties, what to take to a house warming, what to take to meet the parents, wine
So you may have noticed that S & I like wine! But summertime also introduces some really great summer drinks, so I thought I’d do a little post to introduce our “Friday’s in June” upcoming posting. Each Friday we will add a new fun summer drink! This week let’s kick off the summer season with a few of my favorites!
1. What to take…
Meeting the family for the first time, going to a BBQ with new friends, or just bringing a housewarming gift the best summer take along is Gewurztraminer by Fetzer
It’s a nice white wine, sweet, and just a little bubbly like champagne. It makes for a great housewarming gift, it’s perfect for summer because it’s best served cold, and it’s just sweet enough to entice someone who isn’t a wine drinker!
2. To make…
We love that summer time brings out the sangria! And if you love country music then Blake Shelton’s new single Sangria should be blasting through your speakers as you make some! And who doesn’t love the colorful look of sangria!
Making Sangria can be easy and fun! We love it because you don’t have to play “bar service” which always gets messy and busy. Who doesn’t want to enjoy their own party because they get stuck behind the bar serving drinks all night! Barefoot has a great list with many different sangria recipes. Check them out HERE!
And with those words of advice I leave you with this funny irish drinking toast
May the winds of fortune sail you,
May you sail a gentle sea.
May it always be the other guy
who says, “this drink’s on me.”

Memorial Day. The unofficial start to summer, and of course an amazing long weekend. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that on Friday, I sat in the anesthesia office happy I had Monday off, and thinking about my weekend plans. I did have to take a moment this weekend though to recognize what this day was really about–recognizing people who lost their lives in an effort to serve others. It is an American holiday, and I will be the first to admit that politics are messy, and I do not agree with everything my homeland does. At the end of the day though, there are still people who have made it possible for me to have the life I have today, and I respect that. No matter where you are from, or what you believe, someone fought a battle for you. So today for me is about that.
E and I explored ventured down to Veteran’s Memorial Park, which isn’t too far from us, on a gloriously beautiful Maine weekend, which is a beautiful small park on a river.

No matter how minimal a girl tries to keep her wardrobe, there are three pairs of heels that should be in everyone’s closet to keep them stylish for every occasion. A pair of black and nude pumps can take you through every situation and they match everything, and finally a fantastically fun pair that you feel amazing in which can add a pop of color and style to the most plain outfit.
